I follow and read a fashion blogger from Second Life. Her name is Cherri. She posted a new fashion challenge this week. You can read it here: Academia Lookbook. She actually has two different posts. One post is for light academia and the 2nd one is for dark academia. She created multiple looks for each one in dark and in light. I went in search of ideas outside of what she had. Upon my search I found that there were all sorts of different types of academia fashion options. I just created my own interpretation. I kind of mixed different ideas together. I could be way off base... but, hey, it's all in good fun. It became so time consuming that I decided to stick with two looks. The other thing I want to mention: I created my fashion challenge in OpenSimulator instead of Second Life. The main reason is because I had more fashion options and choices in OpenSim. It's virtually identical to Second Life. For the most part, everything is free in OpenSim. I made the images as well. These images were made from a couple of location venues on my OpenSimulator sim. It's called LadyK Ranch. You can find it on the OpenSimulator region directory. Or, you can just click the link above. If you'd like to participate, simply do a search in your favorite search engine for academia fashion. Link/tag me in your post, as well as, Cherri. We'd like to see what you post.
I do not have the fashion card for each of these looks because OpenSimulator doesn't have a marketplace like SL does. It's really hard to list the designers and locations the pieces came from. Because everything is pretty much free, almost all the grids have identical items in their freebie shops. You can literally find everything you want in multiple places. The only difference is the way the grid owners set up their grids. I recently learned how to use BoM Mesh for my avatar. I hope you have as much fun creating your looks as I did. I look forward to seeing your looks.

There's so much to be experienced in the virtual worlds. Author - LadyK Braveheart I do a lot of things inworld virtually. I enjoy visiting other grids and finding neat things in my exploring. I then take them back to LadyK's Ranch and incorporate those finds. I make friends and enjoy visiting with them when I have a chance. I subscribe to a Second Life fashion blogger.
Her name is Cherri. You can read her blog here! The link has her challenge post. I watched one of the videos she has linked that she watched to accept the challenge. I forget how I discovered Cherri. When you read her post and watch the first video you'll see how I did my challenge as well. I love my avi's facial expression. She's like, agh, wow! I could not get the huds for the socks and shoes to work to pick colors. I had to leave them white. Click each of the images above to see them bigger. I used demo items as you can see in the images. Reason being; these items aren't my normal style of fashion. The shoes maybe... haha. So, I basically chose these items from the featured and the items others are buying categories. I look a hot mess. LOL So, the eyes have these cards on the demo that are sticking out the side of my head. The hud had a great number of customizable options on it. I simply chose a preset for green eyes. I typically have lavender eyes (like Liz Taylor eyes.) Starting from the top: Fashion card
I've never done a challenge of this sort, or any sort, honestly. It was interesting. I challenge you to give it a go. Come back and share your challenge with me and the world. Don't be shy or embarrassed. It's all in good fun. Author - LadyKEnjoying Second Life by posting images and telling stories. In the images you see above you notice one is of me on a horse. The SIM I went riding at is specific to riding trails. You can ride a horse or ride a bicycle. I did switch to a bicycle they provided in one area. I wanted to see how difficult it would be on a bicycle. The trails were not smooth. I enjoy water views, as you can see in the images. I imagined doing other fun things while I rode my horse, "Buckskin", around the trails. It was a nicely done SIM. See the next, below, photo gallery below. The two top images are of me enjoying the moon and a sunrise view on the pond. I was actually fishing on the pond. If you look closely you can see the fishing rod.
The two bottom images are of the view of the SIM I went horse riding at. There was a hot air balloon ride at one point on the trail. I hopped into the hot air balloon ride and chose an option to tour around the SIM. It was such a pretty place. I discovered that this SIM has a group you can join for a price. By joining the group you get access to areas of the SIM that non-members do not. I also discovered while out riding the trails that there are places to rent to live in. I didn't see anything that said the SIM was a RP SIM. But, I almost have a feeling it is. For only the members. I might join it later to get a better look at what they offer to members. In the past six - nine months I've been working on updating everything and converting my avatar to mesh. In August, 2018, I converted to a mesh head by AK Deluxe. It's been an experience trying to get everything as I'd like it. I quite like being able to switch the mesh eyes and using the huds that come with them. I like using lavender/purple colored eyes. I was told that Elizabeth Taylor had lavender eyes. I never really looked. See the image below that I found of Liz when she was young. I know this image is a bit dark. I'll work on getting some new ones that aren't this dark. LOL Thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog. '> Here's an image in my gallery post below that shows the eyes better. Photo Gallery of some things. A mix of stuff.
You can see the horses and a kitty in some images. These are just a few. |
